Meet Jack Gyles

A coach who understands the creative journey.

hi, I'm Jack. I created The Protagonist Coach after seeing firsthand how easily a meaningful dream can become tangled with survival, pressure and self-doubt.

For over half a decade I have studied and worked in the acting and creative industries across acting, producing, directing and writing. I have worked alongside creatives trying to fund classes, headshots, showreels and auditions while also holding one or more jobs. I have lived parts of that reality myself - including staying at home to afford training, facing uncertain shifts, questioning where I belonged and feeling afraid to leave work that felt safe but no longer felt right.

My work as a support worker strengthened my desire to be of service. I enjoy helping people question old mindsets, recognise choices, overcome barriers and build practical steps towards goals that matter to them.

Training and approach

An interest in what makes us who we are.

My background in acting sparked a curiosity about people: what motivates us, what we feel and the stories we tell about ourselves. That curiosity is part of what I bring to coaching—a willingness to listen, ask questions and explore different perspectives.

Playing rugby league also taught me about commitment, teamwork and showing up when things feel challenging. Those experiences inform my appreciation for both steady effort and support from others.

Through The Protagonist Coach, I bring these interests together to help you understand yourself more clearly and take steps towards what matters to you.

I am currently completing an ICF-accredited coaching diploma with the Australian Institute of Professional Coaches (AIPC). My coaching is client-led, respectful and action-focused. You remain the expert in your own life; my role is to create a safe space, ask useful questions and work with you to turn insight into momentum.

Open. A welcoming space where you can speak honestly about what is happening.

Respectful. Your identity, circumstances, values and choices are treated with care.

Honest. Clear conversations that support awareness without judgment.

Practical. Insight is connected to realistic action that works in your life.

Who coaching is for

When you're ready for something to change.

You might be facing a decision, questioning your direction or feeling held back by self-doubt. Perhaps you’re pursuing a creative goal, moving into a new stage of life or trying to work out what you want beyond other people’s expectations.

Coaching gives you space to explore those questions and consider your options. We’ll start with what’s on your mind and work towards next steps that feel meaningful and manageable for you.

Take the next step

We’ll talk about what’s happening in your life, what matters to you and what you’d like support with.

We’ll explore your options, question assumptions that may be holding you back and clarify what you want to work towards.

Together, we’ll choose practical actions you can try. In future sessions, we can reflect on what you’ve learned and adjust as you go.
